Mazlan Abbas has more than 25 years of experience and accomplishments as a senior management capacity primarily accountable for R&D, Product Development Innovation & Solutions, Technology Management, Network Operations and Academia. He is a result-driven professional who utilises his subject matter expertise, leadership, and teamwork to design and execute innovative solutions that create sustaining value to the organisation. Before joining MIMOS, he spent 13 years in CELCOM (mobile operator), handling many senior management positions (including R&D, Billing Operations, Technology & Technical Management, Network Administration & Management, Mobile Data, Integrated Business Solutions and Mobility Solutions). Rich experience and knowledge with IT and Telecommunications operation and transformation. Prior to Celcom, he spent 10 years as an Assoc. Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Professor Adnan Al-Anbuky directs AUT’s Sensor Network and Smart Environment (SeNSe) research laboratory. Smart environments require sensors, intelligence, communication and action. Getting these components to working in harmony is Professor Al-Anbuky’s area of expertise. Immediately after his electrical engineering degree at the University of Baghdad, he won a scholarship to do postgraduate studies in United Kingdom. He became interested in digital electronics together with control systems and was encouraged to enter the field of incremental motion control as applied to computer numerical control. In the early 70s these were key drivers of the emergence of industrial automation which was the subject of his master’s and doctoral degrees. This focus continued after graduation until he arrived to New Zealand in the mid 90s where he established an industrial research unit for power quality and management systems firm Switchec (now Eaton). The unit has gone on to deliver 10 patents, turned out intellectual property for products and “better still experts” says Professor Al-Anbuky. The SeNSe lab is involved with the development of various concepts relevant to smart environments such as in-door spatial mapping and human comfort, weather data stream mining, outdoor hazard monitoring, Cyber-physical tracking and opportunistic connectivity, and mobile crowd-sensing, among others. Returning to academia at AUT in 2005, Professor Al-Anbuky utilised his industry experience to establish the School of Engineering’s SeNSe lab which every year attracts numerous researchers, projects, funds and connectivity with both local and international community.

Mehran Ektesabi has completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1989. With more than 25 years research experience in design & development of control systems, he has been winner of many national & international awards. At present, he is with Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences, at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. He is active researcher in Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (FSET) with major research interest on Electric Power Train of Electric Vehicles. In FSET, Center for Sustainable Infrastructure and Electric Vehicle group, he has led many projects and attracted many grants for Swinburne. He is an active member of IEEE and founder Chair of IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Victorian Chapter – Australia. He is executive editor, editor and reviewer of many reputed international Journals & Conferences. His main areas of expertise and research are Power Electronics, Electric Motor Control Systems, Power Quality Controllers, Energy Saving and Compatibility, Renewable Energy Systems, Intelligent and Autonomous Control, Soft Computing Adaptive Control and System Identification.

Sanjeevikumar Padmanaban received his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronics), Master of Technology (Electrical Drives & Control), and Ph.D. degree respectively from Madras University, Pondicherry University, India and Alma Mater Studiorum 1088AD - University of Bologna, Italy in 2002, 2006 and 2012. He pursued his doctoral degree with full comprehensive grant successfully obtained from Ministry of University Research (MIUR), from the government of Italy (Jan. 2009 - Dec. 2011) by securing 110/120 with the merit of first rank among International Competition devoted for one foreign Ph.D scholarship position (Thanks to Prof.Dr.Gabriele Grandi, UniBo, Italy). Also he successfully received full comprehensive grant from Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Bologna, Government of Italy to continue his research as Post-Doctoral Fellow (Jan. 2012 - Dec. 2012) (Thanks to Prof.Dr.Gabriele Grandi, UniBo, Italy). Dr.P.Sanjeevikumar worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at IFET College of Engineering, Tamilnadu, India (2002 – 2004, 2006 – 2007), prior to his Ph.D. research studies. Also he worked as Manager Training at Edutech LLC, Dubai, Middle East, UAE and August 2012 to May 2013 he was employed as Associate Professor with the school of Electrical Engineering, VIT University, Chennai, India. Also he has been employed as Assistant Professor (On Contract) with Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT-Puducherry) from July 2013 to December 2013. He has published paper in the area of his research interest Power Electronics and Drives in National, International Conference and Journal.

Daniel Choi received his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Seoul National University (South Korea) and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. Dr. Choi worked as a staff member for three years at the Aerospace Corporation in California which supports the US Air Force. Dr. Choi joined Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/NASA in 1999 as a task manager, leading a number of space-related projects for nine years. He worked on development of high sensitivity gas sensors, MEMS-gyroscopes, and novel microfluidic ion mobility chromatograph for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) project. He served as the committee for NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Prior to joining the Masdar Institute, he was an associate professor of the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) program for 2007-2013 at University of Idaho (USA). His leadership at the University of Idaho includes serving as the MSE program coordinator to design/improve the programs to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) criteria, director of the University Nanofabrication Cleanroom Facility. Currently, he is department head of the mechanical and materials engineering in the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Chi Chung Ko received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University of Technology, U.K. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. His current research interests include digital signal proessing, adaptive arrays, communications and networks. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has written over 250 technical publications in these areas. He has served on the editorial boards of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, the IEEE Transactions on Antenna and Propagation, and the ETRI Journal. He is currently an Editor for the EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking.

Muhammad Ali Imran received his M.Sc. (Distinction) and Ph.D. degrees from Imperial College London, UK, in 2002 and 2007, respectively. He is currently a Reader (an academic rank in the UK between Associate and Full Professor) in the Centre for Communication Systems Research (CCSR) at the University of Surrey, UK. In this role, he is leading a number of multimillion international research projects encompassing the areas of energy efficiency, fundamental performance limits, sensor networks and self-organising cellular networks. He is also leading the new physical layer work area for 5G innovation centre at Surrey (the 5G innovation centre and an outdoor cellular test bed is being developed at Surrey University with a recent grant of above £35m). He has a global collaborative research network spanning both academia and key industrial players in the field of wireless communications. He has supervised 17 successful PhD graduates and published over 150 peer-reviewed research papers including more than 20 IEEE Journals. His research interests include the derivation of information theoretic performance limits, energy efficient design of cellular system and learning/self-organising techniques for optimisation of cellular system operation. He is a senior member of IEEE and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK. He has been awarded the 2014 IEEE Communications Society Fred W. Ellersick Prize.

Caner Ozdemir received the B.S.E.E. degree in 1992 from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, and the M.S.E. and Ph. D. degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 and 1998, respectively. From 1992 to 1993, he worked as a project engineer at the Electronic Warfare Programs Directorate of ASELSAN Electronic Industries Inc., Ankara, Turkey. From 1998 to 2000, he worked as a research scientist at Electronic & Avionics Systems (ASTG) group of AlliedSignal Inc., Columbia, Maryland. He joined the faculty of Mersin University in 2000 and is currently a Professor in the department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mersin, Turkey. He has been serving as a consultant to the Marmara Research Center of the Scientific and Research Council (TUBITAK) of Turkey since 2007. Dr. Ozdemir’s research interests are radar signal processing, ground penetrating radar, th-the-wall imaging and antenna design. He has published more than 100 journal articles and conference/symposium papers on those fields. Dr. Ozdemir is a recipient of URSI EMT-S Young Scientist Award in the 2004 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Theory in Pisa, Italy. He is the author of the book titled “Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging with Matlab Algorithms”.

Murat KARAKAYA received the B.S.E.E. degree in 1991 from the Turkish Military Academy (KHO), Ankara, Turkey, and the M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in Computer Engineering from the Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2000 and 2008, respectively. From 1992 to 2000, he worked as an engineer at different units in the Turkish Land Forces (KKK), Ankara, Turkey. From 2000 to 2005, he worked as an instructor and software engineer at the Turkish Military Academy (KHO), Ankara, Turkey. Then, during 2005-2008 he worked as IT Project Manager in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Brussels, Belgium. From 2008 to 2012, he worked as an instructor and software engineer at the Turkish Military School of Electronics, Communications and Information Systems (MEBS) and Turkish Military Academy (KHO), Ankara, Turkey. He joined the faculty of Atılım University in 2012 and is currently an Asstant Professor in the department of Computer Engineering, Ankara, Turkey. His research interests are natural computing, sensor networks, peer-to-peer networks, and communications protocol design.

Dr. Florian Misoc is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. He came to Southern Polytechnic State University in August, 2011. Dr. Misoc earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University. He also holds a Master's of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Pittsburg State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania. Dr. Florian Misoc is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Arkansas. Dr. Misoc's research is in the areas of renewable energy (generation, transmission and distribution), power electronics, and vehicular systems.
