Mathini Sellathurai is a Full Professor of signal processing and intelligent systems with Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K. She is leading research in signal processing for wireless communications. She has published 200 IEEE entries, given invited talks and has written a book and several book chapters in topics related to this project. She was a recipient of the IEEE Communication Society Fred W. Ellersick Best Paper Award in 2005, the Industry Canada Public Service Awards for contributions in science and technology in 2005, and the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award (Silver Medal) from NSERC Canada in 2002. She is also a member for IEEE SPCOM Technical Strategy Committee, an Editor of IEEE TSP from 2009. She is also the General Co-Chair of IEEE SPAWC2016 in Edinburgh.

The duties of this role were to deal with all matters relating to Quality Assurance and Enhancement within the Faculty as well as all matters related to Learning and Teaching and to represent the Faculty on University level committees. Sept 2005 –Sept 2011: Head of School, School of Applied Computing in the Faculty of Applied Design and Engineering at Swansea Metropolitan University. Sept 2003-August 2005: Head of School, School of Internet and Computer Technology in parallel with being Research Director of Technium Digital. The Technium concept was an important part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s economic policies was involved with this project at an early stage. This role was an interface between industry and academia and involved the selection of start-up and University spin out high technology companies throughout the Welsh Technium network. Held many meetings with SMEs, multinationals, academics of all levels and representatives of government via the WDA during this period. The role was also to facilitate research collaborations with these companies and academia.

S S Iyengar is a Distinguished Ryder Professor and Director of the School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University and is the founding Director of the FIU-Discovery Lab. He is a pioneer in the field of distributed sensor networks/sensor fusion, computational aspects of robotics and high performance computing. He has published over 500 research papers and has authored/co-authored/edited 20 books published by MIT Press, John Wiley & Sons, Prentice Hall, CRC Press, Springer Verlag, etc. These publications have been used in major universities all over the world. His research publications are on the design and analysis of efficient algorithms, parallel computing, sensor networks, and robotics. He is the member of the European Academy of Sciences, fellow of IEEE, ACM, AAAS, NAI and Society of Design and Process Program (SPDS). He was awarded a Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement for the contributions to sensor fusion algorithms, and parallel algorithms.

Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain is an Associate Professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. She is the Head of high performance computing section at Institute for Mathematics and Research (INSPEM). She received her PhD at University of Bradford, UK. Her research interests include: Efficient multiparty QKD protocol for classical network and cloud; load balancing in the wireless ad hoc network; quantum processor unit for quantum computer; authentication time of IEEE 802.15.4 with multiple-key protocol; intra-domain mobility handling scheme for wireless networks; efficiency and fairness for new AIMD algorithms and A Kernel model to improve the computation speedup and workload performance. She has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals and has been actively involved as a member of the editorial board for some international peer-reviewed and cited journals. She is currently undertaking some national funded projects on QKD protocol for cloud environment as well as routing and load balancing in the wireless ad hoc network.

Mario Marques da Silva is an Associate Professor and Director of Department of Science and Technology at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. He is also a Researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in Lisbon, Portugal. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1992, MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computers Engineering (Telecommunications), respectively in 1999 and 2005, both at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He has been involved in multiple networking and telecommunications projects. He is the author of five books published by CRC Press. He has chaired many conference sessions and has been serving in the organizing committee of relevant EURASIP and IEEE conferences.

Paul Mitchell has been an academic at the University of York since 2005 and has previously worked at BT and QinetiQ. Primary research interests lie in underwater acoustic communication networks and terrestrial wireless sensor networks, including the development of novel medium access control and routing strategies. The application of machine learning to such distributed communication problems is being explored. Other related interests include cognitive radio, traffic modelling, queuing theory, satellite and mobile communication systems. Paul is an author of over 80 refereed journal and conference papers and has served on numerous international conference programme committees including VTC and ICC. He was general chair of the International Symposium on Wireless Communications Systems in 2010. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the IET Wireless Sensor Systems journal and the International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, and has experience as Guest Editor and as a reviewer for a number of IEEE, ACM and IET journals. Dr Mitchell has experience with Research Council funded research and EU-funded projects including management of projects and multi-partner work packages. He recently coordinated an EPSRC grant (EP/D062691/1) on energy-efficient protocol design for sensor networks using aerial platforms. Dr Mitchell is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the IET.

Hosam El-Ocla has received the M.Sc. degree in the Electrical Engineering Department of Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt in 1996. He joined the Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan in 1997 as a research student. He has been awarded the Doctor of Engineering degree in 2001 in the same University. Dr. El-Ocla joined Lakehead University since 2001 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007. His research interests are on waves propagation and scattering in random media. Also, he is working in computer communications, networks, and protocols particularly of wireless networks. Dr. El-Ocla is a senior member of IEEE (Antenna and Propagation Society). He used to be a member of Institute of Physics (IOP) (2006 to 2009), and technical committee member on telecommunications of IASTED (2005 to 2008). In addition, he is a Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng.). He was invited for research visits to Ariake National College of Technology (Japan) and Manchester University (UK). In 2009 and during his one year sabbatical, he worked in King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He woked in both E-Learning and Distance Learning Deanship and the College of Engineering, Electrical Engineering Department. Dr. El-Ocla has served as a reviewer for many journals such as: IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Waves in Random and Complex Media etc. Also he was invited to chair sessions of several conferences. He is working on projects supported by NSERC and always welcome students and post-doc fellows to join his research team.

Rudolf Bayer is an emeritus Professor of Informatics at Technical University of Munich where he had been employed since 1972. He is noted for inventing three data sorting structures: the B-tree (with Edward M McCreight), the UB-tree (with Volker Markl) and the red-black tree. He is a recipient of 2001 ACM SIGMOD Edgar F Codd Innovations Award. In 2005, he was elected as a fellow of the Gesellschaft für Informatik.

Mohammed Bawatna received a M.Sc. in Electronic and Communication Engineering (2015) from AL-QUDS University in East-Jerusalem (Palestine). He started his Ph.D. at the Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics institute (ZEA 2) of the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH in Germany. The Ph.D. is supervised by Prof. van Waasen, and performed within the BMBF funded project ‘Characterization, monitoring and modelling of landslide-prone hillslopes (CMM-SLIDE)’. In cooperation with partners from IBG-3, Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH a near real-time monitoring system to improve early warning of slope instability shall be developed. His primary research interests include Networking, and Wireless Communication.

Eltahir F Kabbar completed his PhD in Information Systems at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. He teaches Information Technology subject at Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Prior to joining HCT, he was a Faculty Member in Department of Information Systems at Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand.

Mohd Helmy Abd Wahab is a senior lecturer and former Head of Intelligent System Lab at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He received a Bachelor of Information Technology with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia and Master of Science (Intelligent System) from the same university in 2002 and 2004 respectively. He has completed several research grants; won several medals in research and innovation showcases and awarded several publication and teaching awards. He has authored and co-authored 2 books in database and WAP application, published several both local and international book chapters, technical papers in conferences and peer-reviewed journals. He also served as guest editor for Special Issue in Wireless and Mobile Networks in International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications and as Deputy Editor in Chief for Int. Journal of Software Engineering and Computing and scholarly contributed as committee for conferences, editorial team and manuscript reviewers. His research interests are in data mining, artificial intelligence and computer vision, mobile and wireless computing, web-based applications. He is currently a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IAEng, and IACSIT.
